Full job description

Role Number: 200689627-1697

Summary

Apple Vision Pro is a spatial computer that blends digital content with your physical space, transforming how audiences experience movies, concerts, and live sports. Apple's Vision Products Group (VPG) is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to champion quality on Spatial computing devices for live and on-demand media experiences on visionOS platforms.

Description

In this role, you will serve as the voice of the end user for live sports, events, and spatial media on visionOS. You will shape the quality of our client software by planning and coordinating testing across complex development cycles, working closely with development engineers, production teams, and delivery partners.

You will develop test plans, run quality reviews, support design reviews, and lead bug triage through resolution on Apple client devices. You will support testing across the media lifecycle, from live capture and distribution to on-device playback, performance, and reliability, and you will assess stream health and playback stability for features such as 3D playback and Apple Immersive Video. During live events, you will help execute testing, coordinate with engineering partners, and drive issues through to resolution under operational timelines.

To scale coverage, you will partner with automation engineers, contribute to test automation as your skills grow, and use Generative AI tools to speed up log analysis, failure classification, and reporting. You will balance these with hands-on exploratory, reliability, and performance testing on visionOS hardware.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10 years in end-user client software quality engineering, media or video QA, with experience writing test plans and coordinating test passes and reviews across engineering teams.

  • Familiarity with video streaming concepts (for example, HLS or DASH) and video formats (AVC, HEVC), with curiosity about spatial media playback.

  • Experience leading and developing a team in a highly cross-functional environment.

  • Understanding of test automation concepts and how automated tests fit into a quality strategy for OS frameworks such as AVKit and CoreMedia.

  • Proficient at balancing multiple efforts simultaneously and meeting deadlines. Passionate about user-focused design, high-quality applications, and iterative refinement.

  • Practical use of Generative AI tools to support test workflows, such as log analysis or report generation.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to turn complex issues into clear bug reports and readiness summaries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or maintaining automated test scripts, tools, or pipelines to run on Apple devices

  • Familiarity with Apple platform tools (Xcode, Swift) and media frameworks (AVFoundation and other OS media frameworks).

  • Working knowledge of visionOS, iOS, or macOS; experience debugging and profiling performance on client devices

  • Experience with AR/VR, spatial computing devices

  • Experience with CI/CD test pipelines; working across various OS media frameworks and platform teams.

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Broadcast Engineering, or equivalent experience.
