Full job description

The SC Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA) is the administrator and co-trustee of retirement and insurance programs for over half a million active and retired public employees of the State of South Carolina and their dependents.

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing analytical functions in the verification and maintenance of finalized payroll accounts, refund payments, incidental death payments, retiree death payments and all manual adjustments to annuitant's payroll records.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Conducting Quality Assurance reviews of member's refund data, retiree's annuity data, and death data entered in the CRIS system. Comparing system data to supporting documentation received and/or in the imaged file. Verifying events based on the data accuracy, as well as compliance with established guidelines.

  • Performing Quality Assurance reviews of manual adjustments to annuitant's payroll records to include PPA, Qualified benefit changes, revert-to-max data, suspensions, reinstatements, receivable, check maintenance and adjustment history transactions entered in the CRIS system. Comparing system data to supporting documentation received and/or in the imaged file. Verifying events based on the data accuracy, as well as compliance with established guidelines.

  • Conducting Quality Assurance reviews of payment instruction data entered in the CRIS system per 7202 Withholding Certificate for Monthly Annuity Payments, 7204 Electronic Funds Transfer Authorization for Annuities, client data changes and address transactions. Comparing system data to supporting documentation received and/or in the imaged file. Verifying events based on the correctness of the data, as well as compliance with established guidelines.

  • Performing additional duties as requested.

A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be substituted for the required degree.In addition to 13 paid holidays, this position is eligible for comprehensive insurance programs, retirement plans, and a generous paid leave program.
