POSITION SUMMARY

This is position is responsible for the receipt of biological specimens into the department, preparation of samples for analytical testing, and performing waived testing. This position reports to department supervisor, and may take direction from higher level technical personnel. This position is also responsible for performing all essential functions as defined by the department. In addition, performs waived and moderately complex tests as defined by CLIA ‘88 in an accurate and timely manner. This position may perform highly complex testing as defined by CLIA ’88 with direct technical supervision. Also, may train employees on basic entry level tasks, performs QC/QA duties and serves as a resource.

SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY

Histology and Surgical Pathology departments as well as PSA Associates are the scope of responsibility. Customers are primarily internal to the departments, and other SQL/LSA staff. Does come in contact and speak on the telephone with a variety of outside customers in the process of triaging calls or troubleshooting concerns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires high school diploma. Must be able to multi task/cross train in all areas of the Anatomic Pathology section.

  • Must have highly developed interpersonal skills. Good organizational skills and basic computer skills are required.

  • Good reading, writing, and math skills are also required.
