Axle is seeking a Research Technician Skilled In Mouse Work to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) located in Bethesda, MD.

The primary objective of the position is to provide research support to NHGRI scientists by per forming a variety of assignments involving the application of a full range of cell biology related laboratory methods, procedures and techniques associated with NIH biomedical research environment.
Responsibilities
-Plans, executes, and arranges laboratory experiments, new techniques and procedures; and performs laboratory techniques relating to scientific research.
-Collaboratively work with mouse models of FSASD and GNE in NHGRI animal facility, activities include mouse breeding, observation, tissue collection, testing of therapeutics and documentation of breeding/tissue collection logistics.
-Provide research support to NHGRI scientists with planning, developing and implementing la-boratory experiments and protocols; assist in coordinating communication with the Research Consortium on Free Sialic Acid Storage Disorder (FSASD).
-Perform laboratory technologies pertaining to molecular biology, biochemistry, glycobiology and cell biology. Such techniques include sterile cell culture, PCR, qRT-PCR, DNA/RNA as-says, cloning, protein assays, glycobiology tools, lectin technologies, antibody techniques.
-Operate a variety of laboratory instruments, including but not limited to (confocal)-microscopes, spectrophotometer/plate reader, other imaging equipment.
-Operates laboratory machines and instruments; and prepares specimens and equipment for use.
-Work with staff on processing specimens for embedding according to protocols.
-Maintain inventory system and sample storage according to outlined guidelines.
-Plan and execute experiments for in vitro and in vivo studies, including cell culture, Western blotting and immunofluorescence/ immunohistochemistry.
-Perform routine experiments and tests, including tissue culture, cell separation, protein, and quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Perform primary cell culture techniques and immunohistochemistry.
