Job Description
Summary
The Technical Editor supports proposal development by reviewing and refining written content to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and compliance. This role works closely with proposal managers, writers, and subject matter experts to produce persuasive, customer-focused, and high-quality proposal materials that align with company and solicitation standards.
Position Responsibilities
-
Edit and proofread proposal content for grammar, clarity, consistency, and compliance.

Ensure all materials adhere to solicitation instructions, evaluation criteria, and company style guides.
-
Collaborate with proposal teams to improve structure, flow, and readability.
-
Verify data accuracy, terminology consistency, and proper document formatting.
-
Support color team reviews (Pink, Red, Gold) and integrate feedback into final versions.
-
Maintain version control and ensure quality and consistency across all volumes.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Journalism, or related field
-
Experience: 8+ years of editing experience preferably in DoD proposal or technical environments.

Strong editing, grammar and writing abilities
-
Proficiency in MS Word, PPT, and Adobe Acrobat
-
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
-
Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
-
Experience editing government or corporate proposals (RFP/RFQ responses)
-
Familiarity with AP or Chicago style and MS Teams and SharePoint.
-
Knowledge of Shipley or similar proposal methodologies.

The salary range for this role is:
$80,500 - $123,000
AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
ITAR Requirement:
This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction. Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on AeroVironment’s determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with AeroVironment’s business requirements. A “U.S. person” according to the ITAR definition is a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or protected individual such as a refugee or asylee. See 22 CFR § 120.15. Some positions will require current U.S. Citizenship due to contract requirements.
