Junior / Intermediate Electrical Engineer
TWD is an engineering, procurement, and construction management consulting company providing project development, execution and specialty engineering services for the oil and gas industry with expertise ranging from refinery, pipelines, renewables, food and beverage, power, downstream chemical processing, and much more. TWD is currently seeking an Junior/Intermediate Electrical Engineer in our Pittsburgh, PA office.

Position Overview:
As an Electrical Engineer in our Pittsburgh office, you will support the planning, design, engineering, and delivery of electrical systems for projects within the energy and infrastructure sectors. Depending on experience level, you will contribute to project teams through technical design, analysis, documentation, coordination, and field support while working closely with engineers, project managers, clients, and other disciplines. This role offers opportunities to develop technical expertise and take on increasing responsibility within a global engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Engineering & Design
-
Perform electrical engineering calculations, analysis, and design for energy and infrastructure projects.

Develop and review electrical system designs, equipment specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
-
Support the design of electrical distribution, power systems, grounding, lighting, controls, and related systems as applicable to project requirements.

Apply applicable industry standards, codes, regulations, and client requirements to engineering work.
-
Assist with equipment selection, technical evaluations, and preparation of engineering specifications.
Project Delivery
-
Prepare engineering deliverables in accordance with project schedules, budgets, quality requirements, and established procedures.
-
Coordinate electrical designs with civil, structural, mechanical, process, controls, and other project disciplines.
-
Participate in design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, and technical discussions.

Support preparation of technical reports, calculations, studies, specifications, and other project documentation.

Assist with project estimates, schedules, and scope development as required.
Field & Client Support

Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and field investigations as required.

Review vendor documentation, contractor submittals, and field information for compliance with design requirements.

Assist with resolving technical issues and responding to requests for information.

Communicate technical information effectively with clients, project teams, vendors, and contractors.

Travel to project sites as required.
Professional Development & Quality

Maintain awareness of current electrical engineering practices, standards, and technologies.

Follow established quality assurance and quality control processes.

Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, tools, and project delivery methods.

Support and mentor less-experienced team members as appropriate to experience level.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
-
Junior level: Less than 3 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
-
Intermediate level: 4–9 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
-
Relevant experience in the energy, power, utilities, industrial, infrastructure, or related engineering sectors is preferred.
-
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or progress toward licensure is preferred and may be required for certain responsibilities.
Technical Skills
-
Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design practices, applicable codes, and industry standards.
-
Experience developing electrical engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
-
Familiarity with common electrical engineering and design software and tools.
-
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, equipment documentation, and technical standards.

Understanding of electrical power systems and related infrastructure appropriate to the role and project type.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of multidisciplinary project teams.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project schedules and deadlines.
