Full job description

Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of our wholesale distribution business in Santa Ana, California. This role will guide core accounting activities, strengthen reporting accuracy, and provide leadership with clear financial insight to support sound business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, operational awareness, and the ability to improve processes while developing a high-performing finance team.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the organization’s accounting and financial reporting activities to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable results.

  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles, ensuring deadlines are met and financial data is thoroughly reviewed.

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, liquidity planning, and broader financial analysis to support short- and long-term business objectives.

  • Establish and refine internal controls, accounting standards, and compliance practices that support regulatory and company requirements.

  • Produce financial statements, performance metrics, and management reports that highlight business trends and operating results.

  • Work closely with executive leadership to evaluate strategic priorities, expansion opportunities, and margin improvement initiatives.

  • Oversee core accounting areas including the general ledger, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory-related accounting.

  • Monitor inventory health by analyzing aging trends, slow-moving stock, and key measures such as Days Inventory Outstanding.

  • Provide operational teams with financial guidance related to purchasing decisions, inventory management, and branch-level performance.

  • Coordinate external financial relationships, including auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and insurance contacts, while advancing process efficiency and automation within accounting workflows. Requirements • 5+ years of experience in a Controller or senior-level accounting leadership role.

  • Strong background in financial reporting, close management, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow oversight.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls, compliance standards, and accounting policy development.

  • Experience supporting inventory-focused operations, including analysis of stock aging and inventory performance metrics.

  • Ability to interpret financial data and translate findings into actionable recommendations for business leaders.

  • Proven success leading and developing accounting or finance staff in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with accounting systems, reporting tools, and process improvement initiatives.

  • Familiarity with document control, document scanning, and compiling records accurately within finance or administrative workflows.
