Full job description

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join a manufacturing organization in Stuart, Florida. In this role, you will oversee product costing, inventory analysis, and variance reporting while partnering with operations and finance to support planning and decision-making. The position plays an important part in maintaining accurate cost data, improving reporting visibility, and contributing to forecasting and close activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and refine standard product costs to support accurate financial reporting and operational decision-making.

  • Maintain costing records by updating cost data regularly and validating bills of material for accuracy and completeness.

  • Calculate costs for machine shipments and projected cost of goods sold to support monthly forecasting activities.

  • Review and post key monthly cost accounting entries, including purchase price variance, scrap-related expense, and inventory adjustments.

  • Examine manufacturing variances, identify unusual trends, and help correct reporting issues when discrepancies are found.

  • Assess warranty-related expenses and prepare the monthly reserve calculation based on current product and claim information.

  • Partner with operations leaders to create and enhance management reports used for product line performance and cost analysis.

  • Analyze inventory activity by reviewing cycle count outcomes, comparing book balances to perpetual records, and investigating differences.

  • Support month-end close, budgeting, annual planning, labor rate development, year-end reporting, and other cost-focused projects as needed. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.

  • At least 3 years of cost accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard costing, cost analysis, and manufacturing cost accounting principles.

  • Experience supporting audits, budgeting processes, month-end or year-end close, and financial reporting activities.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced capability in Excel.

  • Experience working with ERP systems and maintaining financial or cost-related data within business systems.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across finance and operations.
