Sr. Electrical Engineers – NPD Lighting & Lifestyle

Job Duties

  • Lead the design, prototype, test, and troubleshooting of embedded electronics hardware and firmware for high complexity projects.

  • Lead the development of test plans/procedures and test cases for new product electrical hardware and subsystems development.

  • Provide candid and effective communications up, down, and across the organization on progress, barrier removal, and escalation of business risks/opportunities.

  • Demonstrate company culture of high performance and agility by independently creating Work Breakdown Structure for work and driving to critical milestones.

  • Drive urgency and accountability in project schedules to establish and achieve key project metrics that meet the organization’s needs.

  • Serve as a role model of the company’s culture while mentoring, guiding, and coaching junior Engineers. Grow the ability to lead and manage a small team.

  • Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, e-loads, and data acquisition systems.

  • Independently track projects to ensure adherence to schedule and the company process.

  • Design and qualify new designs to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI.

  • Lead in-house testing and verification efforts on current projects to verify user satisfaction, product functionality, and reliability.

  • Work with engineers globally.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, related engineering field, or foreign degree equivalent, and 5 years of relevant progressively responsible experience as an Electrical Engineer, or alternate related acceptable occupation; OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, related engineering field, or foreign degree equivalent, and 2 years of relevant experience as an Electrical Engineer, or alternate related acceptable occupation.

Work or academic experience must have included:

  1. Analog, digital, power electrical hardware tradeoffs and design relating to signal integrity, noise analysis, and margin considerations

  2. Power electronics circuit design and control, including power supply design and verification, output control stability, and electrical noise mitigation

  3. Battery safety systems, including inrush current spikes, circuit reliability, and discharging safety

  4. Electromagnetic Compliance (EMC) and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)

  5. ESD mitigation techniques and compliance testing standards

10% of domestic and international travel.
