Senior Business Systems Analyst

Location: Remote (EST Hours)

Duration: 16-20 Week Contract

Pay Rate: $55/hour W2

Industry Preference: Banking / Large Financial Institution (LFI) experience required

Overview

Our client, a leading large financial institution, is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support a strategic initiative focused on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) governance. This role will be responsible for establishing and driving the governance framework, policies, standards, and controls related to open-source software and SBOM management across the enterprise.

This position is heavily focused on governance, risk management, policy development, stakeholder engagement, and process definition. Technical implementation activities will be performed by dedicated Cybersecurity and Technology teams, while this individual will serve as the key analyst driving requirements, governance structure, and adoption efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain enterprise FOSS and SBOM policies, standards, procedures, and control requirements.

  • Establish governance processes for SBOM generation, collection, validation, storage, maintenance, and consumption.

  • Gather, document, and manage business requirements related to FOSS and SBOM governance initiatives.

  • Define requirements for identifying and managing open-source licensing, security, vulnerability, operational, and compliance risks.

  • Establish roles, responsibilities, approval authorities, and formal exception/risk acceptance processes.

  • Partner with Technology, Cybersecurity, Architecture, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Software Engineering stakeholders to ensure alignment and adoption.

  • Integrate FOSS and SBOM governance requirements into SDLC, DevSecOps, technology procurement, and third-party risk management processes.

  • Develop governance metrics, KPIs, KRIs, compliance reporting, and executive-level dashboards.

  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder meetings, and governance forums to drive consensus and execution.

  • Identify process gaps, document recommendations, and support remediation efforts.

  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory expectations, and emerging best practices related to open-source software governance and SBOM management.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or Governance/Risk Analyst supporting enterprise technology initiatives.

  • Experience working within a Banking, Financial Services, or Large Financial Institution (LFI) environment.

  • Strong background in governance, policy development, controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance initiatives.

  • Experience gathering and documenting business, functional, and governance requirements.

  • Proven ability to work across multiple stakeholder groups, including Technology, Cybersecurity, Risk, Legal, and Compliance.

  • Strong facilitation, communication, and documentation skills.

  • Experience creating process flows, governance frameworks, operating procedures, and reporting metrics.

  • Ability to drive complex initiatives with minimal oversight in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) governance practices.

  • Familiarity with Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) concepts, standards, and regulatory expectations.

  • Experience supporting Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) or DevSecOps-related initiatives.

  • Understanding of software supply chain risk management.

  • Exposure to cybersecurity governance and risk management programs.
