Job Title: PCBA Electrical Engineer - Circuit Design

Location: Milpitas, CA (Onsite)

Duration: 3 months contract

Job Description:

  • We are seeking an experienced PCBA Circuit Design Engineer with strong expertise in mixed-signal circuit analysis, reverse engineering, board bring-up, and troubleshooting of existing electronic hardware.The role focuses on analyzing existing PCBAs, often with limited or no design documentation, understanding circuit and system interfaces, identifying failure modes, validating repairs, and developing BOMs, block diagrams, troubleshooting procedures, and BKM documentation for suppliers and contract manufacturers.

This is primarily an engineering analysis and reverse-engineering role, not a PCB layout-focused position. Occasional international travel, primarily to Singapore and China, may be required for board validation, troubleshooting, and supplier support.

PCB layout experience is a plus, but circuit analysis, reverse engineering, troubleshooting, and hardware understanding are the primary focus.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze mixed-signal PCBA circuits, interfaces, power rails, and board/system interactions.

  • Reverse engineer existing boards where documentation is incomplete or unavailable.

  • Diagnose defective boards, identify likely failure modes, and support board bring-up and validation.

  • Develop BOMs, block diagrams, troubleshooting flows, repair procedures, and BKM documentation.

  • Validate repaired boards with internal engineering teams and support supplier/contract-manufacturer technical activities.

  • Identify component replacements or alternates where required.

  • Work independently on complex technical issues with minimal guidance.

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.

  • 10+ years of overall relevant PCBA / hardware experience.

  • Strong mixed-signal circuit analysis skills.

  • Hands-on PCBA reverse engineering and troubleshooting experience.

  • Ability to work with limited or no schematics/design documentation.

  • Experience with board bring-up, failure analysis, and system/board interfaces.

  • Strong documentation skills, including BOMs, block diagrams, troubleshooting procedures, and BKMs.

  • Experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and similar diagnostic equipment.

Skillsets:

  • PCBA repair, failure analysis, sustaining engineering

  • Hands-on electronics rework, soldering, component replacement

  • Power electronics, power conversion, power distribution, or complex power supplies

Desired:

  • Experience with Cadence / OrCAD Capture CIS / Allegro or similar tools.

  • Power supply / power electronics experience.

  • Experience working with suppliers, contract manufacturers, or repair organizations.

  • Experience identifying component alternates and supporting advanced board-level inspection/testing.

Education:

  • Bachelor¬タルs Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field
