At Smithfield Foods, you will be at the heart of our dynamic compensation programs, ensuring fair and competitive compensation practices. You will dive into the world of compensation administration, managing position descriptions, evaluations, FLSA testing, salary administration, and conducting in-depth compensation analyses. Your role will keep our compensation requirements precise and compliant.

WHAT YOU’LL DO: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified. May perform other duties as assigned.
Dynamic Data Management
- Complete and maintain salary survey data by compiling, organizing, and submitting data on a timely basis, ensuring up-to-date market information for management's annual reviews and frequent job pricing.
- Evaluate the organization's jobs, document responsibilities and requirements in job descriptions, and respond to inquiries about compensation, market competitiveness, job leveling, and job description maintenance and development.
- Execute core processes, support the annual merit increase process, and partner with HRIS and Payroll departments to ensure smooth, efficient, and error-free operations.
Strategic Compensation Solutions
- Maintain and enhance a comprehensive database for accessing compensation information and associated job descriptions.
- Assist in the creation of compensation-based communication materials, supporting and partnering with key stakeholders to drive the completion of compensation projects.
Special Projects and Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain internal compensation databases, processes, and procedures, ensuring continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Tackle special projects as needed, including acquisition integration, organization restructuring, system installation, report analysis, and more.
- Leverage internal and external information to provide strategic solutions to compensation issues, using analytics and data insights to monitor the effectiveness of compensation plans, programs, and policies.
WHAT WE’RE SEEKING: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience; required.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills including expertise in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and HRIS.
- Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, initiative and sound judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
OTHER SKILLS THAT MAKE YOU STAND OUT:
- Knowledge of, and experience with, compensation principles and concepts, compensation analysis and consulting, including market pricing, compensation plan/structure design, job evaluation and grading, and FLSA review.
- Demonstrated maturity in dealing with all levels of employees and the ability to maintain confidentiality of all employee information.
- Strong planning, problem-solving, project management, organizational, and communication skills; able to multi-task.
- Current PHR, SHRM-CP or CCP certification (or willingness to obtain) is a plus.
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with both internal and external vendors and customers.
- Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
The expected pay range for this position is $52,500 - $77,500 annually. Smithfield Foods provides pay ranges that reflect its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the company reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of hire. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, location of the position, the candidate’s qualifications and experience, internal equity, external market pay for comparable positions and budget considerations.
