Schedule: Full Time Shift: Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm in-office

AdventHealth will bring a 60-acre health and wellness campus to Lake Nona in late 2026. This location will offer medical innovations on a campus designed around whole person health with comprehensive services, destination lifestyle programs, and much more that will shape the next generation of health care. We are proud to be a part of the growing Lake Nona community with an established comprehensive network of care. Our services include emergency services, urgent care, a wide range of medical specialists (including primary care), lab, imaging, orthopedics, sports medicine and rehabilitation.

  • Conducts oncology distress screenings and psychosocial assessments to evaluate the full impact of cancer on patients and caregivers.

  • Develops and implements treatment plans with patients and caregivers to enhance psychosocial functioning during and after cancer treatment.

  • Provides individual and family counseling, crisis intervention, and therapeutic support groups specific to oncology.

  • Assesses patients' and caregivers' understanding of diagnosis and treatment needs, and facilitate adherence to treatment recommendations.

  • Evaluates patients' functional, emotional, and psychiatric status, providing clinical interventions and referrals to mental health treatment as needed.

  • Addresses patients' and caregivers' transportation, financial, employment, disability, and insurance issues, making appropriate referrals for assistance.

  • Delivers evidence-based counseling in specialized oncology clinics.

  • Conducts depression screenings and suicide assessments, and initiate the Baker Act process when necessary.

  • Documents social work interventions and maintains department statistics in a timely manner.

  • Participates in community outreach and marketing efforts to support oncology programs.

  • Assists with social work coverage in other clinics and attend meetings and site visits as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and communication skills with patients, families, and caregivers as well as other members of the healthcare team, including conflict management and advocacy.

  • Ability to uphold professional standards by adhering to the NASW Code of Ethics, AOSW Standards of Care for Oncology Social Workers.

  • Knowledge of growth and human development, ethnicity, spirituality, individual personality, sexuality, and family life specific to oncology and illness adjustment for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric cancer patient, caregiver, and family members. [Required]

  • Knowledge of advanced directives, including DNR. [Required]

  • Knowledge of home health care, palliative care, and hospice care. [Required]

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal entitlement programs and oncology-specific community resources and support programs. [Required]

  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and work environment which reinforces a client-centered, therapeutic relationship. [Required]

  • Time management. [Required]

  • Knowledge of EMR systems [Preferred]

  • Bilingual (English required/Spanish) [Preferred]

  • Experience in clinical counseling, including palliative and end-of-life issues [Preferred]

  • Oncology medical social work [Preferred]

Education:

  • Master's [Required]

Field of Study:

  • Social Work

Work Experience:

  • 3+ experience in oncology/hematology/palliative care social work [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW) [Required]

  • Oncology Social Work Certification (OSW-C) [Preferred]

Pay Range:

$54,766.40 - $101,878.40 Background Screening Requirement (Florida Law)
