What You'll Be Doing

As a Plastic Injection Mold Technician , you will lead the development, validation, and optimization of scientific molding processes for both new and existing tooling. You'll work closely with engineering, quality, and tooling teams to ensure stable, repeatable, and efficient production processes.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, validate, and document scientific molding processes for new and existing molds

Perform viscosity curves, gate seal studies, cooling studies, process window development, and validation testing

Support mold qualifications, engineering changes, sampling, and re-validation activities

Troubleshoot complex molding defects including:

  • Short shots

  • Flash

  • Warpage

  • Sinks & voids

  • Cosmetic defects

  • Dimensional non-conformances

Establish and maintain robust process parameters and control plans

Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on:

  • Reducing scrap

  • Improving cycle times

  • Increasing first-pass yield

  • Enhancing overall process efficiency

Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Tooling teams on root cause investigations and corrective actions

Train and mentor technicians on best practices and scientific molding techniques

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

7+ years of hands-on injection molding experience

3+ years focused on process development, process engineering, or scientific molding

Strong knowledge of:

  • Decoupled molding

  • Scientific molding methodologies

  • Viscosity studies

  • Cavity balance analysis

  • DOE (Design of Experiments)

Experience troubleshooting complex processing and quality issues

Ability to read mold drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications

Knowledge of thermoplastics, resin behavior, drying methods, and material handling

Strong communication, leadership, and coaching abilities

Available Shifts:

  • 1st Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

  • 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM

  • 3rd Shift: 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM

This is a Permanent position based out of Burnsville, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60320.00 - $79040.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Competitive hourly pay based on experience and certifications, plus applicable shift differential. Medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with company match. Paid time off and paid holidays. Support for continuing scientific-molding certification (RJG, Six Sigma) and career advancement into process engineering.
