Intern - Electrical Engineering

Description

The Transmission Electrical Engineering Intern will be working on tasks in support of the staff electrical design engineers. The goal will be to give them a solid introduction to the roles and responsibilites of an electrical design engineer, and allow them to complete and report out on their own project during the course of their internship. The Transmission Electrical Engineering Intern will assist with design, integration, and test of electrical systems and devices such as transmission controllers, harnesses, and CCAs for military ground vehicles including tanks, self propelled artillery, and infanty fighting vehicles. Projects may include any stage of the product development cycle including research, design, modeling & analysis, prototyping, and testing (bench, dyno, or vehicle). The Transmission Electrical Engineering Intern will work under close supervision of a Mentor.

Essential Functions:

  • Create components/schematics for the Altium library by interpreting manufacturer’s data sheets

  • Support the development of electrical schematics and architecture drawings

  • Assist in designing and developing CCAs and wire harnesses

  • Support hybrid powerpack electrical architecture design

  • Assist with FPGA integration

  • Perform minor electrical and thermal analyses

  • Support requirements derivation and verification

  • Assist with test plan generation

  • Support test activities including bench, dynamometer, and vehicle level testing

  • Perform data analysis

  • Participate in root cause failure analysis investigations on electrical systems

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Completed at least 2 years in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)

  • Good written and verbal communication

  • Must be able to move freely, with or without reasonable accommodation, throughout a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Addtional Skills:

  • Altium or other schematic software

  • Familiar with IPC standards

  • Ability to perform engineering calculations such as current capacity, voltage drop, thermal dissipation, capacitor sizing, etc.

  • Ability to participate in technical discussions, complete assignments within budget and schedule, and work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to manage and organize multiple project tasks to meet established deadlines
