Description

Robert Half is looking for an experienced Attorney/Lawyer to support key legal priorities in Minneapolis, Minnesota in a Contract position. This role will focus on advising on privacy matters, guiding marketing compliance decisions, and managing commercial agreements tied to advertising, consumer data, and related business activities. The ideal candidate brings sound legal judgment, can work independently in a fast-moving environment, and is comfortable balancing urgent compliance questions with ongoing contract work.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead legal oversight for privacy compliance matters and provide day-to-day counsel on consumer data issues as business needs arise.

  • Review advertising and promotional content to assess legal risk, support compliant messaging, and advise stakeholders on applicable marketing standards.

  • Evaluate support for claim substantiation to help ensure marketing statements are accurate, defensible, and aligned with regulatory expectations.

  • Partner with internal teams to guide marketing initiatives, promotions, and related activities through a compliance-focused legal review process.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements connected to marketing services, data use, and consumer-facing programs.

  • Manage contract renegotiation efforts for existing agreements, including older arrangements that require updated legal terms and risk alignment.

  • Advise on legal questions that involve the overlap of marketing practices, consumer information, and privacy obligations.

  • Respond to emerging legal issues with practical recommendations while prioritizing shifting workloads across compliance and contracting needs.

Requirements • Licensed attorney with experience practicing in privacy, marketing compliance, commercial contracting, or a closely related area.

  • Demonstrated ability to review marketing and advertising claims and provide clear legal guidance on compliance requirements.

  • Experience assessing claim support and advising business partners on substantiation standards.

  • Strong background in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts with minimal supervision.

  • Proven ability to independently manage contract renegotiations, including updates to legacy or long-standing agreements.

  • Working knowledge of privacy compliance principles and consumer data issues, especially where they affect marketing activities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver practical, business-focused legal advice.

  • Experience with data privacy matters; additional background in civil litigation, motions, briefing, or discovery is a plus.
