Supervisory Travel Management Specialist

Summary This position is located in the Travel Services Center (TSC) and is responsible for developing, interpreting, and analyzing domestic and foreign travel policy and procedures. Responsibilities The duties may include, but are not limited to: Plans, directs and pursues a positive program of travel and relocation assistance to managers and operation officials. Reviews serious disciplinary cases and proposes resolutions accordingly while identifying developmental and training needs of employees Operates within broad policy guidelines and is responsible for the technical soundness of travel and relocation operations and decisions made by management to personal. Analyze and interpret reports, application of travel and relocation concepts, examine travel claims, and provide recommendations on travel operations and management. Writes, reviews, analyzes and comments on proposed travel legislative, regulatory, and/or policy changes. Leads meetings, conferences and work groups as designated to disseminate information regarding travel policies and procedures and/or to assist with managerial problem-solving activities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Managing the travel card program, including developing and communicating, providing advice, and monitoring misuse and abuse. Evaluating financial/travel systems and their design to analyze financial reports and other information related to travel, prepare travel funds status reports, assess needs, analyze problems, and recommend solutions. Utilizes electronic travel systems to develop automated local travel and relocation procedures and instructions for Agency use. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education This position does not have an education qualification requirement.
