Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Hybrid (Chicago)

We are currently working with one of the largest financial companies within the Chicago area to place a Principal SRE who can help with the automation and deployment of bank fund transfer features. This is a 6-month contract to hire opportunity with hybrid work schedule of 3-days onsite and 2 remote. You will be working with terraform to write modules for the infrastructure team along with making sure the application runs and operates smoothly. The role involves working with cloud tools such as Docker and Kubernetes and incident response processes to keep systems running smoothly.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems and helping teams work more efficiently. The position offers the opportunity to lead projects and improve the tools and processes used to maintain critical systems. They will also help improve system security and reliability and guide other engineers in developing better technology solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 15+ years of relevant technical experience

  • Experience with software development and scripting

  • Knowledge of cloud computing and distributed systems

  • Experience working with IaC such as Terraform

  • Experience building containers and clusters from scratch using Docker and Kubernetes

  • Analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with AWS or other cloud tools (GCP, OCI, Azure)

  • Knowledge of automation and deployment tools

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with monitoring and incident management

  • Understanding of system performance and disaster recovery

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
