Full job description
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Chair of Undergraduate Film & Television, the Administrative Manager administers all functions and activities of the Chair's office. Manage the day-to-day functioning and workflow of the Chair's office to ensure the effectiveness of administrative operations and provide direction on the office's budget. Administer a broad range of activities within the Chair's office; manage department-wide progress on goals; collaborate on special projects and events, and cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Establish a year-long office calendar for the Chair, ensuring key priorities, meetings, and activities are effectively planned and coordinated. Hire, train, and supervise student employees.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree Arts Administration
Required Experience:
3+ years Experience in academic administration or a related area, or an equivalent combination. Must include experience assisting a high-level executive in operations; support and coordination of special events; and managing office operations and budgets.
Preferred Experience:
3+ years working in a university, a large, non-profit organization, or for a film producer or director
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Expertise in office management, administrative processes, and systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership, faculty, and colleagues. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to meet deadlines. A demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, while remaining adaptable and proactive. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and experience with financial software (travel and expense platforms, etc.) and databases. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to act in a professional and confidential manner.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience supporting senior executives, deans, or other high-level leadership in a complex organization. Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and diplomacy when handling highly sensitive and confidential information. Demonstrated ability to anticipate leadership needs, manage competing priorities, and proactively address operational challenges. Appreciation for and commitment to supporting the mission, values, and creative culture of an arts-focused school
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $77,000.00 to USD $87,522.19. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
