Full job description
What We Do: Florence software advances cures by helping the world’s most important research sites do their best work. Our solutions are now used by over 65,000 research teams in 90 countries around the world—we’re the most widely deployed site workflow tool in the industry. By the end of the decade, we’ll double the pace at which new medicines get to market by doubling the output of trial site teams. To date, we were named a Deloitte Fast 50 business, G2 Category Leader, an Inc. & AJC best place to work, and an Inc. 5000 company five years in a row. At Florence, we are committed to make the world a better place by accelerating research while providing an environment for our employees where they can be happy in their lives, enjoy their jobs, and grow.
What You’ll Bring to the Team: At Florence, we're passionate about making it easy for research sites and sponsors to run clinical trials, helping therapies reach participants quickly. Our customers leverage Florence to organize regulatory documentation, partner with sponsors, and execute clinical studies. We are integrating these core offerings into a unified trial operations platform. This solution bridges Sponsor and Site operational workflows end-to-end, decreasing workload on research staff while deploying AI agents for routine manual trial responsibilities. We are seeking a strategic leader who bridges two distinct skill sets. You possess practical experience in executing clinical research from initiation to site closeout. Simultaneously, you hold proven expertise in building and scaling enterprise SaaS platforms rather than managing single product features. While many professionals bring one side of this experience, we require both capabilities. You will collaborate closely with the VP of Product, who directs specific application roadmaps, while you lead the overarching platform architecture and connected customer journey. You’ll Own:
- Platform vision and experience architecture. Define how our Sponsor and Site applications function as an integrated ecosystem, establishing the shared data strategy, cross-product workflows, and integrations with CTMS, EDC, eTMF, and external systems.
- Domain authority. Serve as the internal authority on operational workflows, converting real-world clinical experience into clear platform direction for product managers and engineering units.
- AI-native capabilities. Partner with Engineering and AI teams to pinpoint where automated agents minimize operational drag for sponsors and sites, delivering these features in alignment with GxP and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
- Platform business outcomes. Drive platform expansion, cross-product attachment, and platform-driven ARR and retention metrics. Partner across Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Success to refine packaging, pricing, and go-to-market strategies.
- Ecosystem. Direct our integration and partner ecosystem strategy, spanning APIs and agent frameworks like MCP, while assisting Corporate Development on build, buy, or partner choices.
- Market insight. Monitor traditional eClinical providers, emerging AI-driven platforms, and evolving guidelines such as ICH E6(R3) to transform market dynamics into long-term product bets.
What Success Looks Like:
- First 90 days: Establish an aligned platform vision and 12-month strategic roadmap endorsed by executive leadership, product, and engineering.
- 6 months: Deploy initial cross-product workflows connecting Sponsor and Site solutions in active production with design partners.
- 12 months: Demonstrate clear reductions in site effort and trial activation timelines while hitting platform retention and attach goals.
An Ideal Candidate Has: Clinical trial operations depth (required)
- 7+ years of experience within clinical trial operations or clinical technologies, gained at, or working with, a sponsor, CRO, major site network, academic institution, or life sciences consulting practice.
- Direct knowledge of study operational workflows, including site selection, study startup, essential document management, monitoring, and Sponsor-Site alignment.
- Working understanding of 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, ICH GCP E6(R3), and regulatory compliance requirements within computerized systems validation.
SaaS platform building (required)
- 8+ years managing B2B SaaS product portfolios, with a minimum of 3 years leading product management teams.
- Demonstrated track record scaling platform ecosystems beyond single-point features, including shared data architecture, APIs, external integrations, and partner strategies.
- Ability to partner with technical leadership on overall platform architecture, data structures, and AI/ML implementations.
Differentiators
- Prior tenure at an eClinical platform organization (eReg/eISF, CTMS, eTMF, or site enablement solutions).
- Proven experience delivering AI or machine learning functionality within regulated software platforms.
- Background in high-growth startup or venture-backed environments. An MBA or advanced science degree is a plus.
Leadership
- Skillful at cross-functional alignment across Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Sales, with executive-level communication for clients and stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial drive with a penchant for building scalable processes in fast-paced environments.
What’s in it for you?
- Do well. We offer a competitive compensation package, medical and dental insurance, and office space in the heart of the city.
- Do good. We insist that health technology is the highest calling for software development. We pride ourselves on working on something bigger than ourselves; helping advance cures and therapies.
- Make the leap. Join our high-output culture to create innovative, modern, and purposeful software solutions.
