Quality Control Technician Trainee

NORTHFIELD Quality Control Technician Trainee A Quality Control Technician Trainee is an hourly, skilled craft position. The position is best suited to someone that has a desire to learn, with a strong attention to detail, and is interested in a career in the paving industry. The person selected for this position will be taught to perform any combination of the duties described more fully below. Key Duties of a Quality Control Trainee Learn to test aggregate and asphalt to control the quality of the production of hot mix asphalt Learn test methods including but not limited to DOT regulations Develop effective communication skills and how to document QC test results Learn to calibrate lab equipment and conduct equipment testing Learn to prepare various QC reports and develop corrective recommendations to resolve or correct quality issues Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts Qualification Requirements of a Quality Control Technician Trainee Education and Experience This position is an entry-level job and we are willing to train . A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively on the job site 1-2 years of science and laboratory education is preferred, but not required. A valid driver's license is required. Demonstrate Safety 1st It is important for members of the Northeast Paving team to be actively involved in their own safety, while being considerate of fellow employees. Assess work environment for possible hazards. Proper use of personal protective equipment and tools Speaks up if seeing an unsafe act Asks for help, when needed, to perform tasks safely. Considers if there is a safer way to perform work and communicates. Physical Demands The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Quality Control Technician to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day, frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in all types of weather. Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis up to 50 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance. Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Quality Control Technician encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project. Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
