Job Title: Low Voltage Technician (Tech I and Tech II) Job Description

This contract-to-hire Low Voltage Technician role supports a large-scale data center project in the Lebanon, IN area, with initial work based out of a warehouse in Brownsburg, IN. You will help prepare, prefabricate, install, and test structured cabling and fiber optic systems for a modern data center environment. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, typically 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., averaging about 50 hours per week. This opportunity offers hands-on experience in data centers, fiber optics, and low voltage systems, with training available for entry-level Tech I candidates and more advanced responsibilities for experienced Tech II technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Prefabricate materials and equipment for data center installations in a warehouse setting.

  • Set up and prepare server racks and related data center infrastructure.

  • Install and route structured cabling, including CAT5 and CAT6, in data center environments.

  • Pull, run, and neatly dress fiber and copper cabling according to project standards.

  • Label cables accurately to ensure clear identification and future maintenance.

  • Perform terminations on low voltage cabling and related components.

  • Assist with installation of low voltage systems such as CCTV and access control as needed.

  • Support basic troubleshooting of low voltage and structured cabling issues under guidance from senior technicians.

  • Follow blueprints and project documentation to complete installations to specification.

  • Work consistently in a full-time schedule of approximately five 10-hour days per week.

  • Collaborate with experienced technicians and project leads, taking direction and feedback to ensure quality work.

  • For Tech II: work more independently on installations and terminations while still following project leadership.

  • For Tech II: support fiber optic cabling installation, termination, and testing, including use of OTDR testing equipment.

  • Maintain a safe, organized work area in both warehouse and data center environments.

  • Demonstrate reliability by showing up on time and ready to work each day.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to work a consistent schedule of approximately 50 hours per week, Monday through Friday, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Strong reliability and work ethic, with a history of consistently working full-time jobs.

  • Willingness to learn a skilled trade and grow within the structured cabling and data center industry.

  • Comfort working with hands and learning to use new tools and equipment.

  • Ability to take direction from experienced technicians, leads, and project leadership.

  • Positive attitude and ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic familiarity with low voltage wiring, installation, and troubleshooting concepts.

  • For Tech II: previous experience in structured cabling, fiber optics, or data center environments.

  • For Tech II: experience with fiber optic cabling installation and termination.

  • For Tech II: experience testing fiber, including familiarity with OTDR testing equipment.

  • For Tech II: experience dressing, labeling, and terminating cabling around server racks and data center infrastructure.

  • Ability to work more independently on tasks while maintaining alignment with project requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working longer hours or schedules closer to 50 hours per week.

  • Hands-on experience with CAT5 and CAT6 cabling installation and terminations.

  • Exposure to CCTV and access control systems in low voltage environments.

  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and installation drawings.

  • Some fiber testing experience is a plus.

  • Background in data center or low voltage systems is preferred for Tech II.

  • Interest in building a long-term career in data centers, fiber optics, and structured cabling.

  • Comfort working in both warehouse and active data center settings.

  • Strong attention to detail when labeling and dressing cables.

Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
