  • Wisconsin licensed healthcare professional with Associates degree required; Bachelor’s/Master’s degree preferred.

  • Current BLS required.

  • Minimum of 2 years educator or related experience preferred.

  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office products required.

Work Hours

We are seeking a part-time (24 hours/ week) Clinical Educator to work Monday- Friday, typically between the hours of 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM. Occasional evening hours may be required.

Job Summary

The Clinical Educator is a member of the Quality Department. The core responsibility of the Clinical Educator is to coordinate hospital wide staff development programs, orientation, and competency testing to ensure high quality patient care is delivered to our patients.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  1. Develops and implements required training and educational activities including, but not limited to, instructor led courses, self-study, computer assisted, or job aids consistent with objectives.

  2. Teach BLS, ACLS, and PALS, become an instructor within 18 months of hire.

  3. Collaborates with leaders to determine orientation needs and orientation schedule for new employees.

  4. Develops and educates department preceptors on adult education techniques.

  5. Utilizes adult teaching methods to educate on clinical orientation, medication safety, SBAR, teach back, Foley catheters, IV’s, blood glucose, IV pumps, etc.

  6. Available to staff in patient care areas, to serve as a resource and provides “just in time” education and/or assist with skills.

  7. Develops staff to be able to deliver quality care through orientation, initial, ongoing and yearly competency assessment.

  8. Supports leaders to coordinate education plans related to competency validation.

  9. Facilitate training for staff on appropriate uses of equipment, supplies and resources in the delivery of patient care.

  10. Coordinates opportunities for competency and mandatory education completion (skills days, in-services, certifications, mock codes/simulations, etc.)

  11. Researches, designs, develops, coordinates, and implements learning programs based on organizational and departmental needs.

  12. Supports departments to identify educational offerings for personal and professional growth.

  13. Ensures that educational programs are congruent with organizational mission, values, and goals.

  14. Adheres to Southwest Health’s value-based behavior standards.

  15. Understands and adheres to Southwest Health compliance and HIPAA standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

  16. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
