Full job description

The Department of Oral Medicine at Penn Dental Medicine invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in the Clinician Educator (CE) Track. The successful candidate will serve as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine at Penn Dental Medicine and serve as an Orofacial Pain specialist who is dedicated to improving comprehensive care for individuals with complex orofacial pain conditions.

The faculty member will provide advanced clinical care, participate in the education of predoctoral and postgraduate learners, contribute to interdisciplinary patient management, and support scholarly and programmatic initiatives that advance orofacial pain management. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty from Penn Dental Medicine, the Perelman School of Medicine and affiliated health systems to improve access for orofacial pain, patient-centered care.

Rank: Assistant Professor (Clinician Educator Track). Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required

  • DMD, DDS from a United States, CODA accredited dental educational program.

  • Completion of a 2-year US CODA Approved Residency in Orofacial Pain

  • Current Unrestricted Pennsylvania Dental license or current eligibility for licensure.

  • Board Certified by the American Board of Orofacial Pain

  • Demonstrated 5-year experience caring for orofacial pain patients.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Experience working within interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Preferred

  • Experience with the development of an Orofacial Pain residency or fellowship program.

  • Experience in academic health centers as teaching environments.

  • Experience with Epic, Axium and other comparable electronic health record systems.

  • Advanced Training beyond Orofacial Pain residency in Pain Management

  • Demonstrated interest in quality improvement, clinical scholarship, or educational innovation.
