Employment Type: Full timeShift: Day Shift Description: The Registered Nurse Practice/Clinical is responsible for providing higher-level clinical support to the oncology health care team by providing superior nursing care services to patients in accordance with established R.N. job standards, policies, and procedures.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Oncology Registered Nurse who displays a drive to provide patient-centered care through clinical expertise, compassion for the human spirit and mind, advocacy and education for patients and families, and collaboration with all those who touch our patients. This role supports patients throughout their oncology journey through clinical assessment, symptom management, patient education, triage, care coordination, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary oncology team.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing assessment and clinical support for oncology patients throughout their continuum of care.
  • Assess patient symptoms, treatment-related side effects, and changes in clinical condition and communicate or escalate concerns to the appropriate provider.
  • Provide clinical telephone and electronic triage, utilizing oncology expertise and strong clinical judgment to determine appropriate interventions and escalation of care.
  • Educate patients and family members regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, symptom management, potential treatment-related side effects, and follow-up care to promote a clear understanding of the care being provided.
  • Assist with the management of cancer-related symptoms and treatment-related concerns in collaboration with the oncology provider and interdisciplinary team.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited R.N. program; BSN preferred.

Licensure: Current Connecticut R.N. license required.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of Registered Nurse experience in Oncology required. Additional/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Outpatient/Ambulatory Oncology experience a plus.
  • Oncology Infusion experience a plus.
  • Oncology telephone triage, symptom management, patient education, and care coordination experience preferred.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred.

Pay Range: $46.15 - $69.95 per hour

Pay is based on RN experience. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
