1st Shift; 6:30am-3:00pm, Monday – Friday

Hourly rate $21.00 - $28.00/hour DOE

Ability to work overtime during the week and Saturdays as needed

McGard, a leading company in the automotive industry, is seeking a highly talented and motivated Heat Treat Lead to join our dynamic team and contribute to our ongoing success.

RESPONSIBILITY:

• Controls the heat-treating furnaces to alter the properties of selected materials.

JOB DUTIES:

• Verify that lot cards have all previous operations signed off.

• Place parts on racks, in trays, or baskets and places them on conveyor or loads them directly into furnace.

• Adjust furnace controls to heat parts to prescribed time and temperature.

• Checks control panel and parts in furnace frequently to be aware of proper furnace operation.

• Operate furnaces, draw ovens, pit draws, and any other related equipment.

• Operate inline parts washers.

• Ensure daily time slips are accurately filled out.

• Ensure that routine maintenance is performed.

• Perform and ensure hardness checks are completed as per the Work Instruction.

• Parts are quenched in oil within furnace and then removed after prescribed time.

• Records time that parts are removed from furnace.

• Unloads racks, washed hearth bars, rollers, and heat shields.

• Replaces above and set up for next load.

• Area is kept in a neat and orderly manner.

• Notify the proper authority of machine or repair needs.

• Train Heat Treat Operators for back up purposes.

• Complete material and supply requisitions.

• Coordinate all PM and shutdown activities.

• Perform maintenance on any powered equipment and forklift (including battery) as required.

• Assist in scheduling daily work and its completion.

• Audit completed work.

• Assist in resolving problems, delays and difficulties.

EDUCATION / SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

• Leadership skills.

• Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
