The Technical Product Manager owns WIN’s next generation of sports data products. This role dives deep into frontier technology — computer vision, AI, and data capture across our camera and sensor products — and turns it into products that change how athletes and coaches train and compete.
About WIN Reality, LLC WIN Reality is changing how baseball and softball players across the world train to get better. Our team is full of world class developers changing the VR landscape, former professional ballplayers dedicated to improving the way the game is played, and people passionate about creating a one of a kind experience. We’re always looking for talented people to join our team, and to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
Description Department: Product Reports To: VP of Product Location: Austin, TX or Los Angeles, CA About the Role The Technical Product Manager owns WIN’s next generation of sports data products. This role dives deep into frontier technology — computer vision, AI, and data capture across our camera and sensor products — and turns it into products that change how athletes and coaches train and compete. You’ll work closely with WIN’s engineering team, especially computer vision, AI, and hardware, to define what we build and make sure it ships. The data comes from Smart Park camera systems at thousands of fields and from Blast Motion sensors in athletes’ hands. Your job is to make that data accurate, useful, and valuable. This role also includes program management: running the cross-functional plans that bring hardware, firmware, models, cloud, and apps together on schedule. Success is measured by data products that ship on time, perform in the field, and get used. Key Responsibilities Technical Product Ownership
- Own the roadmap for WIN’s data products: ball and player tracking, swing and pitch metrics, and AI-driven insights from cameras and sensors.
- Write detailed technical requirements covering accuracy, latency, data schemas, and APIs.
- Evaluate frontier technology and research, and separate what’s ready for product from what isn’t yet.
Engineering Partnership
- Work daily with the computer vision, AI, hardware, and backend teams.
- Define evaluation criteria and validate data quality against ground truth.
- Make trade-off calls across accuracy, cost, and timeline, with clear reasoning.
Customer & Market
- Talk regularly with players, coaches, teams, and analysts to understand what data they need and how they use it.
- Translate raw data into insights and experiences that change how athletes train.
Program Management
- Run cross-functional programs spanning hardware, firmware, computer vision, cloud, and apps.
- Maintain plans, dependencies, and milestones; run the program cadence; and communicate status and risk clearly.
Team & Structure
- One of three product managers reporting to the VP of Product.
- Close partners: the computer vision team, Director of Engineering, hardware leadership, and design.
Who You Are
- You’re technical. You have an engineering background, and you can go deep with computer vision and hardware engineers on how things actually work.
- You’re curious about the frontier. You follow what’s new in AI, computer vision, and sensing, and you know how to turn it into something customers can use.
- You live the game. You love sports, and ideally you’ve played. You know which numbers matter to a hitter, a pitcher, or a coach.
- You’re organized. You keep complex, multi-team programs on track, and nothing falls through the cracks.
- You turn data into value. You know accurate data is only the start; insight that changes behavior is the product.
How Success Is Measured
- Primary KPI: Data products shipped on committed timelines.
- Quality: Accuracy and reliability of WIN’s metrics in the field.
- Adoption: Usage of data features by players, coaches, and teams.
- Program execution: Cross-functional milestones hit on plan.
Qualifications Required
- 4+ years of product management experience on technical products (data, AI/ML, computer vision, or hardware).
- Engineering background: a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or prior experience as an engineer.
- Working fluency in computer vision and machine learning concepts.
- Program management experience across hardware and software teams.
- Strong interest in sports; ideally played baseball or softball.
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, Austin or Los Angeles.
Preferred
- Prior experience as a software, computer vision, or data engineer.
- Experience at a sports data or sports technology company.
- Experience with connected devices and sensors.
- Hands-on data analysis skills (SQL, Python).
