Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an HVAC Controls Engineer to join an engineering team in Chelmsford, MA. This individual will support the programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems for commercial and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate has experience with BAS/BMS technologies, PLCs, and BACnet communication protocols and enjoys working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. This role will support projects from design through startup and commissioning while partnering closely with software engineers, technicians, and project teams. This is a fully onsite opportunity in Chelmsford for someone eager to learn and grow within the building automation industry.

Compensation: $33/hr - $45/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.

Skills and Requirements

Must-Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) or Building Management Systems (BMS)

  • Experience programming or configuring HVAC controls, PLCs, or automation systems

  • Experience working with BACnet communication protocols

  • Familiarity with Siemens, Delta Controls, Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, Tridium Niagara, or similar automation platforms

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, sequences of operations, and construction documents

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Willingness to work onsite 5 days per week in Chelmsford, MA Plusses

  • Construction or MEP engineering background

  • Experience commissioning HVAC or utility plant systems

  • Tridium Niagara experience

  • Siemens TIA programming experience

  • SQL, Python, or additional programming experience

  • Experience with IP networking, RS-485, or controls communication systems

Day-to-Day

  • Program and configure HVAC control systems and building automation platforms
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and sequences of operation
  • Support commissioning and startup activities for HVAC and utility systems
  • Troubleshoot controls, networks, and automation-related issues
  • Assist with BACnet network configuration and integration
  • Collaborate with software engineers, project managers, and field technicians
  • Participate in customer meetings and project reviews
  • Support construction and service teams during project execution
  • Develop and maintain automation system documentation
  • Assist in delivering projects from design through commissioning and turnover
