Full job description

Description

Amazon is seeking a Sr. Manager, Safety Programs for NA Surface Transportation (NAST) business. You will lead a team to build and deploy mechanisms, with business, tech, and operations partners, that improve on-road safety, regulatory compliance, and the end-customer delivery experience across middle-mile operations. You will thrive in ambiguity and competing priorities, dive deep from strategy to tactics, and act as ambassador, analyst, solutions architect, and implementer. You will propose and implement big ideas across internal customers, external carriers, and drivers. You will partner with legal teams, policy owners, and business leaders to interpret on-road safety regulations and policies, then translate them into effective programs. Your ability to navigate ambiguity, influence stakeholders, and deliver data-driven results will be critical as you shape how Amazon identifies, assesses, and mitigates safety risk. If you are a collaborative problem-solver who can balance customer experience with risk management priorities, we want to hear from you. Our ideal candidate is passionate about safety and compliance and possesses a strong people management and project management background. They will have experience in development and implementation of safety management systems, and work-process simplification.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead the team to deliver complex, large-scale strategic programs end to end, on time and with quality.

  • Identify and mitigate program risks with operations, business, and tech partners; communicate with and influence VP-level stakeholders across the org.

  • Become the expert on your domain's trends and root causes (safety incidents, or customer experience) and design creative solves.

  • Build policy, process, and KPIs that reduce risk and liability in operations or improve customer experience.

  • Scope future-state solutions, influence roadmap decisions, and measure effectiveness over time.

  • Engage drivers, carriers, and field teams for Voice of Customer to improve programs.

  • Drive consistent outcomes across 3P carrier base

  • Partner with Legal to keep mechanisms defensible, including automated-decision compliance.

  • Land engineering-first, cross-team solutions where no single team owns the outcome.

  • Work from data by partnering with Business Intelligence teams to move from symptom to root cause on large, noisy datasets.
