Assistant Professor of Surgery
The Department of Surgery's Division of Transplant Surgery at the University of Virginia, School of Medicine, is seeking applicants for a full-time position of Assistant Professor of Surgery in Charlottesville, Virginia. The duties are as follows: Provide patient care and clinical teaching, including performing liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation, inpatient and ambulatory care for pre-and post-transplant patients; as well as providing surgical care in general surgery cases on transplant recipients or non-transplant patients requiring the expertise of a transplant surgeon. There is also an expectation to share the transplant and deceased donor procurement call schedule, which includes travel to outlying hospitals for multi-organ recoveries and safe transportation of organs to UVA.
The position requires the following: MD or equivalent and currently have or be eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Must meet UNOS requirements for primary living donor surgeon in kidney and liver donation. Must be independent in laparoscopic and/or robotic assisted living donor nephrectomy, and have expertise in laparoscopic, robotic-assisted kidney, and pancreas transplantation. A successful background screening is required.
