SAP S/4HANA ABAP Developer (Mid) - U.S. Citizenship Required

Position Description

CGI is seeking a Mid-Level S/4HANA SAP ABAP Developer to support an SAP S/4HANA Greenfield implementation project for a large government contract. As a Mid-Level Developer, you will actively participate in every stage of the application lifecycle, from design to deployment. You will be responsible for translating user requirements into Technical Design Specifications and developing ABAP solutions that align with these designs. Additionally, you may lead or mentor other developers, promote maintainable development practices, and conduct code reviews.

This project operates in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, utilizing Agile/Scrum methodology to rapidly build solutions based on customer requirements. You are encouraged to expand your knowledge of new technologies and propose improvements to business processes. Success in this role will be driven by your strong technical skills, proactive problem-solving, ability to learn quickly, and excellent communication with our clients.

This position is located in one of CGI Federal's offices in Fairfax, VA, Lebanon, VA, Lafayette, LA or Knoxville, TN; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to work in a CGI Federal office two days per week.

Your future duties and responsibilities

  • Design and develop comprehensive solutions within the S/4HANA platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with complex business objectives.

  • Develop and manage integrations between S/4HANA and external systems using advanced technologies and protocols, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.

  • Analyze and enhance system performance and business processes within S/4HANA, leveraging advanced tools and techniques to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Utilize SAP Gateway Service Builder to develop SAP OData entities, enabling consumption by external applications using the HTTP(s) protocol.

  • Participate in the analysis of customer business operations to validate requirements and scope, proactively suggesting process improvements.

  • Work closely with business and technical teams to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into effective S/4HANA solutions that align with organizational goals.

  • Develop and maintain detailed SAP documentation, conducting thorough unit, integration, and release testing to validate functionality and ensure quality.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

  • Due to the nature of the contract requirements, U.S. citizenship and successful completion of a CGI background check are required prior to beginning work. In addition, candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD/Public Trust clearance.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in SAP ABAP development and overall SAP experience.

  • Experience with S/4HANA is required.

  • Proven hands-on experience integrating backend SAP and non-SAP applications.

  • Proficiency in SAP ABAP development and HANA CDS Views.

  • Demonstrated implementation experience with SAP Fiori and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).

  • Proficiency in working with Web Services, Proxies, and APIs for seamless system integration.

  • Hands-on development experience across a wide range of ABAP technologies, including Reports, RFCs, Forms, Object-Oriented ABAP (OOP), BAPIs, Enhancements, BADIs, User Exits, Customer Exits, and Data Conversions (BDC, LSMW, IDocs, ALE, and Workflows).

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in debugging and performance tuning of ABAP programs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and discuss strategies and technical information effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to analyze problems and provide clear recommendations.

  • Ability to self-learn new technologies in the UI space, working with minimal direction and supervision.

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience with the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).

  • Certifications related to Application Development, SAP BTP, or Agile methodologies.
