Collections Specialist

Description We are looking for a Collections Specialist to join a fast-paced Information Technology environment in Syracuse, New York on a Contract basis. This role will support high-volume outreach efforts by connecting with customers, following up on outstanding balances, and helping maintain accurate payment records. The ideal candidate brings prior call center experience, is comfortable working with Salesforce and Sage, and can apply basic accounting knowledge to day-to-day collections activity.

Responsibilities:

• Contact customers by phone to follow up on overdue accounts and encourage timely payment resolution.

• Handle a steady volume of inbound and outbound calls while maintaining professionalism and strong customer service.

• Record collection activity, account updates, and customer interactions accurately within CRM and accounting systems.

• Review account balances, billing details, and receivable records to identify past-due items and support follow-up efforts.

• Work with internal teams to clarify payment issues, account questions, and documentation related to outstanding invoices.

• Use tools such as Salesforce, Sage, and other financial software to manage account status and track collection progress.

• Support routine accounts receivable and billing-related tasks associated with collection processes.

• Maintain organized records to help ensure collection efforts align with company procedures and reporting needs. Requirements • Previous call center experience in a high-activity environment.

• Hands-on experience with Salesforce and Sage.

• Basic understanding of accounting principles, including accounts receivable and billing functions.

• Ability to manage collection calls with confidence, professionalism, and attention to detail.

• Experience using CRM platforms and accounting software systems.

• Strong communication skills for handling customer conversations and payment follow-up.

• Comfortable working efficiently in a busy Contract role with changing priorities.
