Full job description

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support accurate financial operations and reliable reporting for our team in Arcade, New York. This position plays an important role in overseeing close activities, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, and helping ensure compliance with established accounting practices. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments to improve accounting processes and support business goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead monthly closing activities by preparing, reviewing, and finalizing accounting entries within established deadlines.

  • Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger through thorough review of financial transactions and supporting documentation.

  • Prepare and post journal entries while ensuring completeness, proper classification, and alignment with accounting standards.

  • Perform detailed account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner to support accurate financial records.

  • Complete bank reconciliations regularly and investigate variances to ensure cash activity is properly recorded.

  • Assist with financial reporting by compiling schedules, analyzing balances, and supporting the preparation of internal and external reports.

  • Partner with operational and business teams to explain financial results, address issues, and strengthen accounting controls.

  • Support audit activities by organizing records, responding to information requests, and helping maintain compliance documentation.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance workflows, strengthen controls, and improve efficiency across the accounting function. Requirements • Demonstrated experience managing month-end close processes in a senior-level accounting role.

  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial statement support.

  • Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing journal entries with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Proven ability to complete account reconciliations and research outstanding variances effectively.

  • Experience performing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate cash records.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and compliance requirements.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders.
