Full job description
At Sword, we’re building AI to heal billions and unlock humanity’s full potential. In doing so, we’re pioneering AI Care, a fundamentally new approach to healthcare built for medical reasoning, safety, and real-time treatment, not generic technology applied after the fact. As both a clinical-centric frontier AI lab and an applied AI platform, Sword is reimagining how care is delivered at scale, removing traditional barriers like appointments, waiting rooms, and stigma so more people can access the care they need—and ultimately get back to lives lived in full.
Since 2020, Sword has expanded across physical therapy, women’s health, cardiometabolic, and mental health, and is now moving beyond the session to a fully AI-native, 24/7 care program that brings physical activity, therapeutic exercise, psychotherapy, nutrition, and behavior change into one connected experience. More than 700,000 members across three continents have completed over 10 million AI sessions, helping 1,000+ enterprise clients avoid more than $1 billion in unnecessary healthcare costs. Backed by 42 clinical studies, 44+ patents, and more than $500 million raised from leading investors including Khosla Ventures, General Catalyst, and Founders Fund, Sword is defining a new standard for healthcare.
AI Proficiency at Sword
AI fluency is a core expectation at Sword. Every candidate is assessed against our three-level framework — be ready to share real examples of how AI is already part of how you work.
• Explorer (Level 1) — Uses AI daily to boost personal productivity
• Builder (Level 2) — Creates workflows and tools that elevate the whole team
• Integrator (Level 3) — Embeds AI into products and processes at scale
Every hire must demonstrate at least Level 1. The expected level will vary depending on the seniority of the role.
Role:
As an iOS Engineer in Consumer Growth at Sword, you’ll build experiences that help people discover value in our consumer products and keep coming back. Your work will span acquisition entry points, onboarding, subscription conversion, activation, and retention. Working closely with Product, Design, Data, Marketing, and backend engineers, you’ll turn growth hypotheses into polished iOS experiences, measure their impact, and refine them based on what you learn. You’ll combine strong native engineering with thoughtful product decisions, helping the team move quickly while maintaining the quality and trust customers expect.
What you’ll be doing:
-
Build and improve iOS experiences across onboarding, account creation, paywalls, subscriptions, and ongoing engagement;
-
Connect acquisition campaigns and web journeys to relevant in-app experiences through Universal Links and reliable navigation;
-
Implement subscription purchase flows, purchase restoration, and entitlement handling in collaboration with backend engineers;
-
Deliver controlled experiments using feature flags, targeted experiences, and accurate analytics instrumentation;
-
Work with Product, Design, and Data to identify friction, define experiment requirements, and evaluate results after release;
-
Create reusable UI components and application foundations that support efficient experimentation;
-
Maintain app responsiveness, accessibility, stability, and consistent behavior across supported devices and iOS versions;
-
Own features through implementation, testing, release, monitoring, and iteration;
-
Use AI tools to accelerate development while validating generated code and preserving engineering quality.
What you need to have:
-
Experience shipping and maintaining production iOS applications;
-
Strong proficiency in Swift and experience building interfaces with SwiftUI;
-
Solid understanding of iOS architecture, application lifecycle, state management, and Swift concurrency;
-
Experience integrating APIs and handling loading, failure, and interrupted user journeys gracefully;
-
Experience with automated testing, debugging, memory management, and performance analysis;
-
Ability to instrument user journeys and use product data to inform engineering decisions;
-
Good product judgment and attention to interaction quality, accessibility, and user trust;
-
Ability to work across disciplines, communicate trade-offs, and own features from concept through production;
-
Practical experience using AI in your engineering workflow and critically reviewing its output;
-
Fluent English, written and spoken.
Nice To Have:
-
Experience with StoreKit, subscriptions, or RevenueCat;
-
Experience with A/B testing, feature flags, Universal Links, or privacy-aware acquisition measurement;
-
Experience improving conversion, activation, or retention in a consumer application;
-
Familiarity with UIKit interoperability, push notifications, and lifecycle engagement experiences.
