Director, Product Management

About Niron

Niron Magnetics is commercializing the first new permanent magnetic material in decades—a breakthrough Iron Nitride technology that eliminates rare earths, strengthens supply chains, and drives a more sustainable future. At Niron, we’re not improving what exists—we’re building what’s never existed before. The materials, processes, and standards are being created in real time by our team. We were named one of “America's Top GreenTech Companies” for 2024 and 2025 by TIME Magazine, Fast Company World Changing Ideas wins in 2024, 2025 and winners of the Minneapolis/ St. Paul Business Journal Minnesota Manufacturing Awards in 2025 and 2026.

As we scale to commercial production, your impact is immediate and visible—on the plant floor, in the lab, and in the products our customers bring to life. We set a high bar because what we’re building will last—and so will the legacy of the people behind it.

What you’ll do

Niron Magnetics is seeking a Director, Product Management to build Niron’s product management function and own the product portfolio and its economics. The Director sets prices, holds the customer P&L for each program, decides how pilot production is allocated among customers, and routes every customer product request to the team that can deliver it. This position owns the product roadmap for the next 12 months. Product Marketing owns positioning and the product targets beyond 12 months, and the two functions work from one shared roadmap. The position reports to the Vice President of Commercial and will hire and lead the function’s first product managers as the company scales and grows.

Primary responsibilities

  • Build Niron’s product management function: define the product lines within the current portfolio, set up the processes and records the function runs on, and hire and lead its first managers by the end of 2027.

  • Set prices and approve customer programs. This includes:

  • Analysis of product value to support pricing.

  • Driving alignment with operations on manufacturability and expected yield.

  • Structuring commercial terms of customer supply and offtake agreements.

  • Own the customer P&L for each program and report the economics of the product portfolio to the commercial and executive teams.

  • Route customer product requests, achieving commercial and operational alignment within defined SLA boundaries.

  • Decide how pilot production is allocated among customers and internal needs, set the order of the sample queue, and commit delivery dates and quantities to customers within the supply the pilot declares.

  • Own the product roadmap for the next 12 months, set the product requirements for development projects, and resolve conflicts between the customer and technical roadmaps owned by Product Marketing, Process Development and Product Development.

  • Stand up the operating system for interaction between Niron’s Commercial and Operations functions.

  • Partner with Pilot organization to establish product engineering function and design the operating system between Product Engineering and Product Line Management.

Ongoing responsibilities

Run the product management cadence and maintain the records the commercial and operations teams work from:

  • Weekly sample and build review with pilot production, Quality and Applications Engineering

  • Demand forecast

  • Design-for-manufacturing reviews of customer magnet designs

  • Pricing file and deal approval record

  • Customer P&L by program

  • Product request routing log

  • Customer commitment log

What we’re looking for

  • A customer first mindset, evaluating every decision through the lens of how Niron creates value for our customers.

  • 10+ years in product management in B2B industrial, materials or component markets, including pricing decisions and P&L responsibility.

  • Value-based pricing: Experience with setting prices with complex sets of inputs and connecting pricing to value created for customers.

  • Demand forecasting and allocation of constrained supply across customers and programs.

  • Products taken through a stage-gate development process with engineering and operations partners.

  • Experience hiring, building, and leading a team.

  • High degree of proficiency with Artificial Intelligence tools, and a bias to build and automate.

  • Clear, concise writing for executive audiences.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, ideally powder-based, metals or magnet manufacturing, and discrete manufacturing processes, sufficient to learn to judge whether a request can be built today or needs development.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science, physics or a related technical field.

  • Travel of 10 to 20% for customer meetings and industry events.

Nice to have

  • MBA or graduate degree in engineering or science

  • Experience with electric motors, permanent magnets, powder metallurgy, audio transducers, data center cooling or defense supply chains.

  • Product management through the transition from pilot to volume production.

  • Experience in automotive or other supply chains that use PPAP qualification.

  • Experience with pricing methodologies that compare a product with competing solutions at the device level.

Our pay and benefits

  • Salary $170,000 to $210,000

  • Equity in Niron through a stock option grant

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance

  • Mental healthcare

  • 401(k) plan with company match

  • Paid vacation, sick time and holidays
