Standard Job Description

Determines packaging specifications according to the nature of the product, cost limitations, legal requirements, and the type of protection required, considering need for resistance to such external variables as moisture, corrosive chemicals, temperature variations, light, heat, rough handling, and tampering. Developes and maitains packaging instructions for storage and shipping in compliance with all federal regulations. Provides logistical support to complete shipping processes under government contracts.

Basic Qualifications

  • Receiving / Shipping inspection background.

  • Government Bill of Ladings and U.S. Government shipping practices

  • Hazardous Material Shipping Training 49CFR, IATA, IMDG, AFMAN.

  • Knowledge of DoD 4145.

  • Knowledge of DTR 4500 Chapters 204 and 205.

  • Ability to work and understand DOD requirements for delivery of assets to various DOD locations.

Desired Skills

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education with 2 years of professional experience.

  • Ability to train and become certified in all processes and procedures applicable to packaging and shipping.

  • Understanding / ability to train and certify in 49 CFR Regulations, IATA, IMDG, and AFMAN.

  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrated skills in leading a work team and training a small group.

  • Ability to read, understand, and develop written instruction from technical drawings and documents.

  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance prior to start.

  • Ability to work additional time outside of normal work schedules.

** Candidate must be able to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives (“ATF”) background check to obtain approval to be an “employee possessor” (of explosives or other ATF-regulated items) as defined by ATF regulations. Failure to obtain and retain employee possessor status may result in revocation of an offer and loss of employment.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $70500.00 - $130900.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
