Summary

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia (USAO-DC) is unique in the size and the scope of its work. It serves as both the local and the federal prosecutor for the nation's capital. Assistant United States Attorney's (AUSA) assigned to the Criminal Division prosecute a broad range of U.S. Code violations in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.

Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for investigating and prosecuting the transnational organized syndicates in the Scam Center Strike Force Section in the Criminal Division for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. Typical work assignments will include: Managing case dockets of the Section, reporting statistics related to managed cases to management as well as those related to law enforcement actions of any kind (i.e., warrants, seizures, arrests, charges, trials, convictions). Managing external communications between section management and various external agencies and multiple international partners by convening meetings to discuss priorities and needs; setting regular meetings between management and external agencies and partners as related to the Strike Force's cases. Serving as back up paralegal for federal cases, and primary paralegal for cases in trial. Evaluating, organizing, and preparing complex and/or voluminous electronic files and files for discovery. Consulting with team members to understand requirements for discovery, case needs and technical requirements. Providing technical assistance to litigation teams presenting or filing electronic evidence or exhibits in legal proceedings. Performing a variety of litigation support tasks that require a thorough knowledge of litigation technology and litigation support principles. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Qualifications

To be found eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, which has equipped you with the competencies to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are utilizing a variety of methods and software applications to prepare and manage electronic discovery, evidence, exhibits and other electronically stored information; utilizing software applications to extract electronic case materials; utilizing document review database functions such as coding, tagging, searches, sorting, filtering and analytics; managing external communications and consulting with litigation team members on case related matter; preparing and processing legal documentation.
