Machine Design Engineer

We are supporting a client who designs automated systems for customers in aerospace, medical device, and advanced manufacturing. They are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a strong machine design background who enjoys working across the full lifecycle of a system from concept and CAD to assembly, testing, and customer support.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a less-structured environment, wears multiple hats, and likes seeing their designs physically built and tested.

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Eden Prairie, MN

Salary: 90-125k

What You’ll Do

• Design industrial heating and automated systems (approx. 75% design-focused role)

• Create machine designs from scratch, including frames, mounting structures, and assemblies

• Select mechanical components and materials and support quoting and cost estimation

• Develop systems for:

• Infrared and industrial heating

• Heating equipment for extruders

• High-speed, high-temperature test systems for aerospace customers

• Custom benches and equipment for medical device manufacturing, including catheter and stent finishing (electropolishing)

• Work on a mix of:

• Repeat systems (~70%)

• Fully custom designs (~30%)

• Build and assemble the systems you design

• Perform checkout, testing, and troubleshooting

• Run basic simulations and analyses to validate designs

What We’re Looking For

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical or machine design is targeted

• Hands-on experience with automated systems or industrial equipment

• Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks or similar)

• Experience selecting components and designing for manufacturability
