Full job description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a chemicals manufacturing organization in Piedmont, South Carolina. In this role, you will contribute to core accounting activities across North American operations, with a focus on accurate financial records, receivables, and reporting. The position is well suited for someone who enjoys analyzing data, resolving discrepancies, and working in a manufacturing setting with inventory and production complexity.
Responsibilities:

Record accounting activity through timely journal entries and ongoing maintenance of general ledger accuracy.

Complete account reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis and help drive efficient close processes.

Review financial results, identify unusual fluctuations, and support the preparation of reports for management decision-making.

Create and issue customer invoices based on orders, shipments, and commercial terms while resolving billing questions promptly.

Apply incoming payments, reconcile receivable balances, monitor aging trends, and follow up on overdue accounts to improve collections.

Partner with sales, customer service, and operations teams to address disputes or service issues that may delay customer payment.

Assist with inventory-related accounting, including cycle count review, inventory adjustments, and validation of production transactions.

Support cost accounting and fixed asset activities such as manufacturing variance review, product cost analysis, and depreciation tracking.

Prepare documentation for audit requests, maintain organized accounting records, and contribute ideas that strengthen accounting workflows and controls. Requirements
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
Experience
-
3-5 years of accounting experience required.

Manufacturing industry experience preferred; chemical manufacturing experience is a plus.

Experience with accounts receivable, customer invoicing, and collections required.

Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of GAAP and standard accounting practices.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with manufacturing ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or NetSuite.

Knowledge of inventory, cost accounting, and manufacturing processes.
