Full job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Modeling & Simulation Specialist to join our team onsite in Arlington, VA .

This is a full-time, onsite contractor position at Secretary of the Air Force, Studies and Analysis (SAF/SA) in the Pentagon. The qualified candidate augments and assists the military and civilian staff in performing M&S and Analysis functions using the Airfield Damage Assessment and Resiliency Model (AD-ARM) to support force projection analytic tasks for senior Air Force decision makers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Rapidly learn and train to master the overall AD-ARM methodology and user manuals, developing a strong understanding of how to input data to support analysis.

  • Conduct and participate in short notice as well as long-term analytical studies and assessments using a variety of tools and techniques to include qualitative, spreadsheet, and computer simulation-based analyses.

  • Leading and assisting in the development of analysis plans for force projection and airfield resiliency studies.

  • Using available data, subject matter expert knowledge, and best judgement, create and maintain input data for AD-ARM, including managing input requirements, design of experiments, and post-processing analysis.

  • Run AD-ARM and analyze output data to support critical studies such as force structure assessments, rapid deployment logistics, and airfield resiliency and recovery operations. Adjust simulation inputs as required to align output with actual and/or expected results in a real-world environment.

  • Present analysis of simulation output to include insights, conclusions, and recommendations in written documents and verbal briefings for review by Air Force decision makers.

  • Work autonomously, with guidance from the Study Lead and/or Model Manager and attend meetings both locally and at other locations as a subject matter expert on AD-ARM and SAF/SA analytic capability.

  • Provide initial training for the use of AD-ARM to external organizations and new team members as needed.

  • Complete computer-based and in person training as required by the government and company policy, including rapid onboarding and familiarization with AD-ARM methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) such as Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, or Systems/Industrial Engineering

  • 5+ years of modeling and simulation experience

  • Demonstrated coding experience with a modern scripting language

  • Experience using Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top-Secret/SCI clearance

  • Previous Air Force or Space Force experience

  • Familiarity with Department of War (DoW) analysis, modeling, and simulation, or operations research to enable effective post-processing of analytic output.

  • Experience as either an analytic study lead or member of a study team within the context of Department of War (DoW) operations

  • Comfortable and proficient with command line operations and Git version control.

  • Experience developing study plans that include background, purpose of study, scope/limitations, critical assumptions and constraints, measures of effectiveness, study parameters and variables, methodology description, data requirements and schedule.

  • Experience in programming in Python, R, SQL, and C/C++.

Clearance Requirements:

  • US Citizenship required and a current or active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SCI clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers.
