JOB SUMMARY:
Under supervision, learns to create and maintain a positive public image for the organization they represent. Writes and designs media releases, speeches, print, web-based communications, awareness of its work and goals. Must cultivate relationships with press offices, journalists, bloggers, and opinion leaders. Assist in preparing senior leadership for press conferences, media interviews and speeches. Positions agency for media success by implementing protocols for internal crises communications and leveraging opportunities for rapid response. Collaborates on media strategy across organization.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee day-to-day administration and publishing of content across agency social media accounts (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, and YouTube).

Manage agency’s social media content calendar to align posts with major activities, public awareness months, and transportation initiatives.

Oversee strategy, concept and development of high-quality content including video reels, photography, and graphics for social media

Design and oversee multi-channel social media campaigns for key programs and initiatives.

Manage the execution of paid social media ad campaigns

Serve as the primary digital ambassador and on-camera talent for GDOT's social media platforms.

Conduct interviews and live field coverage for active projects, transportation initiatives and emergency operations.

Monitor public comments, direct messages, and mentions across official channels.

Provide strategy guidance, content creation assistance, training, and support for regional social media channels.

Monitor and provide reports for key social media performance metrics
ENTRY QUALIFCATIONS:
Associate degree in communication, journalism, or other closely related field from an accredited college or university.
AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Minimum of one (1) year experience working in social media, communications, marketing or related field.

Strong background in digital content creation, communications, or digital marketing.
-
Strong social media management experience within a mid-to-large-size organization or agency.
-
Professional experience in utilizing social media to develop clear, concise and engaging content tailored to multiple audiences.
-
Experience planning, launching, and managing both organic and paid social media campaigns across major platforms, including audience targeting and ad budget tracking.

Strong understanding of communications practices, marketing concepts and dynamics
-
Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of internal and external customers, management, and subject matter experts (SMEs).
-
Experience developing and managing public education and awareness campaigns.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Strong experience in digital communications
-
Two or more years of experience managing and developing content for multiple social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram, Threads and YouTube.

Proficiency with social media management platforms such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, and others.
-
Experience tracking social media performance metrics, generating analytical reports, and monitoring trending topics to help increase engagement, reach and audience growth.
-
Demonstrated expertise in developing eye-catching visual assets for social media such as custom graphics, photos, and video reels.

Prior experience using mobile photo and video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Rush, CapCut, Canva, or Adobe Creative Cloud.

Experience developing content for different types of digital channels including websites

Ability to compile results from the metrics and present an understandable manner.

Demonstrated experience conveying detailed information through digital media channels in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.

Experience developing digital content that promotes and enhances the agency brand.

Ability to research and stay abreast of new and current social media platforms and terminology.
COMPETENCIES

Hands-on experience operating cameras, mobile devices, gimbals, microphones, and lighting equipment.
