Full job description
Description
Amazon Workplace Health & Safety’s (WHS) mission is to provide tools, resources, and environments that support safe, efficient, and healthy behaviors and encourage employees to proactively manage their health and well being. To support this focus area, Amazon is seeking a Sr. Program Manager for the WHS Central Programs Team (CPT) to lead safety projects from ideation through network deployment using the Project Bolster Framework. In this role, you will dive deep into operations processes; identify risks through data and first-hand experience; build programs and improve processes to eliminate risks; and influence operations to sustain a culture of safety.
This role requires you to operate effectively in ambiguous environments — structuring complex problem spaces, defining project scope and success criteria, and building clear narratives when inputs are incomplete. You will own end-to-end project delivery across multiple Business Units (BUs) and geographies, managing concurrent workstreams through Proof of Concept, Pilot, and Network Deployment phases. The role demands strong execution rigor: managing vendor relationships, purchase orders, site deployments, and cross-functional dependencies against tight timelines.
You will influence without authority — earning trust with cross-functional partners including Operations, Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT), Amazon Robotics (AR), Engineering Services, Global Procurement (GPO), and WHS field teams to drive alignment and secure resources. You will communicate proactively through written narratives, tollgate reviews, and stakeholder updates — translating data into actionable insights for audiences ranging from site-level associates to senior leadership.
A critical dimension of this role is process improvement. You will identify inefficiencies, document lessons learned, create mechanisms that the broader team adopts, and contribute to the continuous refinement of CPT's project management standards. You will use FMEA, process maps, value stream maps, and decision matrices to surface risks and drive evidence-based decisions.
This position requires travel up to approximately 25%, when needed (and with appropriate health and safety conditions).
Key job responsibilities
-
Own full project lifecycle from ideation through network deployment, including tollgate preparation, narrative development, entitlement submission, and project closure
-
Develop and maintain project plans (waterfall gantt), deployment schedules, and vendor Scopes of Work with clear milestones and accountability
-
Manage vendor relationships including 3PL labor coordination (3-5x/week cadence), material supplier engagement, Avetta compliance, and Coupa PO management
-
Produce clear, data-backed written narratives for tollgate reviews, MBR/WBR read-outs, and escalation documents; anticipate questions and address them preemptively
-
Identify and implement process improvements that reduce cycle time, eliminate rework, and create reusable playbooks for future deployments
Basic Qualifications
-
7+ years of program or project management experience
-
Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
-
Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
-
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
-
2+ years of driving process improvements experience
-
Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
-
Knowledge of general AI tools
-
Experience designing, implementing, and scaling upskilling, apprenticeship, or workforce development programs across large-scale operations or corporate environments, including forecasting workforce needs and leveraging analytics to drive program decisions
