Summer Camp Aquatics Program Coordinator

6/21-8/27 weekdays 9:40-3:40 Primary Role: To further the mission of Garrett Williamson by developing and implementing a safe and engaging summer camp aquatic program, overseeing all pool activities and operations. Immediate Supervisor: Camp Director Essential Job Functions: 1. Establish best practices for all aspects of the summer camp aquatics program, including appropriate rules and procedures to address potential hazards affecting those participating in pool and other water-related activities 2. Communicate and enforce pool safety rules to staff and campers 3. Administer basic first aid and provide emotional support when necessary 4. Supervise lifeguards and campers during all pool and water-related activities to ensure a safe environment, providing rescue support when necessary 5. Create schedules for lifeguards for pool supervision 6. Act immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of persons in the event of an emergency 7. Monitor changing rooms and oversee transition periods at the pool 8. Develop and utilize criteria to assess swimmers' abilities and determine appropriate pool sections for each camper to swim safely 9. Conduct periodic observations of lifeguards and prepare reports for the Camp Director 10. Conduct daily check of pool area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair, promptly reporting any concerns to the Camp Director 11. Serve as a resource for staff who need support with conflict resolution, behavior management or input regarding games and activities 12. Maintain clear and positive written and verbal communication with camp staff, campers, parents, and all other contacts associated with Camp Garrett 13. Create and maintain positive business and working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, families, campers, and the community, promoting a collaborative and supportive environment Qualifications, Skills, and Ability: 1. Must be at least 21 years of age 2. Current certification in lifeguard training, first aid, and CPR (preferred) 3. Must possess and demonstrate strong swimming skills 4. Minimum of two years of supervisory experience[JH1] 5. Experience working with children and young adults 6. Desire and ability to work with children outdoors in varied conditions Other Job Duties: 1. Participate in camp-wide activities, programs and meetings, including staff meetings 2. Assist in general maintenance and upkeep of Camp and shared facilities 3. All other duties as assigned Physical/Cognitive Requirements of the Essential Job Functions: This position requires the ability to lift 25 pounds, the ability to perform immediate and appropriate rescues of any person in need at or in the pool, strong listening and observation skills, the ability to take corrective actions, when necessary, the capacity to read and comprehend instructions and manuals. Additionally, to navigate the camp property in various environmental conditions.
