Insight Global is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join a large natural gas company in Dallas, Texas. This individual will be focused on supporting and enhancing a large enterprise network security environment, with an immediate emphasis on VMware NSX micro-segmentation initiatives and Palo Alto firewall technologies. The consultant will be responsible for working through a backlog of NSX micro-segmentation tickets, troubleshooting security and connectivity issues, and helping implement security policies across the organization's infrastructure. As they become more integrated with the team, they will also support efforts to redesign the server build process and eventually expand into additional networking technologies such as Cisco ISE and related platforms. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, self-driven network security professional who can take ownership of work, proactively recommend solutions, and operate independently in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Skills and Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in Network Engineering or Network Security

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise network and security environments

  • Hands-on experience with VMware NSX, including:

  • Network virtualization

  • Distributed firewall administration

  • VM-to-VM communication troubleshooting

  • Hands-on experience with Micro-Segmentation, including:

  • Security policy design and implementation

  • Troubleshooting and remediation of segmentation issues

  • Previous experience with Palo Alto Firewalls, including:

  • Security policy management

  • NAT configuration

  • Firewall troubleshooting and support

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Self-starter mentality with a proven ability to take ownership and drive work independently

  • Demonstrated willingness to learn, adapt, and take accountability for assigned initiatives

  • Ability to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and bring solutions and recommendations forward

  • Looking for someone who goes beyond basic administration tasks and can actively contribute, take ownership, and move projects and initiatives forward

  • Strong preference for candidates with hands-on enterprise experience in NSX and Palo Alto environments

  • Personal lab or hands-on networking projects are a plus

  • Experience with: ◊ Cisco ISE ◊ Cisco ACI ◊ VMware Aria Operations for Networks (vRNI) ◊ Cisco NX-OS / IOS-XE ◊ BGP, OSPF, VRF, EVPN, and VXLAN ◊ VPN technologies (IPSec, Site-to-Site, SSL VPN, DMVPN, GlobalProtect)

  • Associate degree or higher preferred
