As part of the Disney Experiences Global Public Relations team, the Public Relations Associate supports the development and execution of strategic communications initiatives that generate earned media in support of Disney theme parks, experiences and consumer products. This role is part of a specialized bi-coastal team that works closely with partners across Disney Experiences to elevate compelling stories, identify emerging media voices and trends, and develop relevant multiplatform opportunities to reach key audiences.

This is a casual temporary (CT) role paid hourly role, based in Glendale, California.

What You Will Do

Draft and edit press materials, briefing documents, event communications and other written content.

Assist with media engagement for individual visits, interviews, press events and other activations, including on-site hosting and logistical support.

Monitor media coverage and relevant content to identify trends, opportunities and emerging voices.

Maintain and contribute to media lists, communications calendars and other team resources.

Compile coverage results, insights and key learnings for reports, presentations and campaign recaps.

Write and edit blog posts and other communications based on business and leadership needs, coordinating reviews and approvals with internal and external partners.

Collaborate with partners across Disney Experiences and The Walt Disney Company to support communications priorities and identify opportunities for broader storytelling.

The candidate can expect to work approximately 24 hours per week, with an in-office schedule four days per week. The role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends as business needs arise and may include local travel to support events, media visits and other Public Relations activities.

Required Qualifications

Strong writing, editing, storytelling, presentation and research skills, with excellent grammar and knowledge of Associated Press style.

Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

Demonstrated curiosity about changes in media and audience behavior, with enthusiasm for identifying trends and exploring new approaches to earned media.

Collaborative approach with demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with internal and external partners.

Creative and forward-looking mindset, with a willingness to challenge conventional thinking and contribute new ideas.

A personal vehicle is highly recommended for this role, as you will need to be able and willing to travel between Glendale and Anaheim as needed (i.e. The Studio Lot, Disneyland Resort)

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates are encouraged to submit an electronic portfolio and include a portfolio URL on their resume . Your portfolio should showcase examples of your work, such as writing samples, press releases, media announcements, creative projects, and other relevant content that demonstrates your storytelling, communication, and creative abilities.

Previous experience in or knowledge of public relations, communications, media relations, journalism, digital media or a related field.

Appreciation for the Disney brand, knowledge of Disney fan culture and familiarity with the global businesses represented within Disney Experiences.

Understanding of the evolving media landscape, including digital media, content creators, podcasts, social platforms and emerging content formats.

Familiarity with media monitoring, social listening and/or measurement platforms.

Experience working within a global brand or complex corporate organization.

Experience supporting media events, interviews, press visits or other earned-media activations.

Familiarity with developing media lists, researching journalists and creators, and identifying relevant media opportunities.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

The hiring range for this position in California is $39,720 – $53,220 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
