We're looking for a Senior Engineer to join our ever-evolving Enterprise Data Platform Engineering Team and help shape the future of global commerce. In this role, you'll play a critical part in building Global Payments' next-generation Operational Data Store (ODS), a foundational platform that powers real-time payment experiences, fraud prevention, authorization enrichment, and merchant servicing at scale. You'll help define the technology strategy, influence key architectural decisions, and transform proof-of-concept innovation into a production-ready platform that supports millions of business-critical transactions. Working alongside talented engineers, architects, and product teams, you'll create resilient, high-performance data solutions that directly advance Global Payments' mission of delivering secure, seamless, and innovative payment experiences around the world. What you'll own - Shape the future of real-time payments data by designing and delivering core platform capabilities that enable low-latency access to operational data, supporting critical business and client experiences across the enterprise. - Drive platform reliability and performance outcomes by optimizing read-path latency, scalability, and resiliency, ensuring the platform consistently meets demanding availability and throughput objectives. - Create self-service capabilities that accelerate adoption by automating tenant provisioning, governance controls, and operational workflows, enabling teams to onboard and innovate faster. - Influence platform strategy and technical direction by evaluating technologies, validating solutions under production-scale workloads, and helping establish engineering standards for a shared enterprise platform. - Strengthen operational excellence across the organization by building observability, resiliency, and recovery capabilities that improve service health, reduce risk, and support long-term platform growth. What you'll bring - Proven experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production environments, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and performance. - Hands-on expertise with distributed NoSQL databases and data-serving platforms, including designing data models, indexing strategies, and low-latency access patterns. - Strong experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures, including streaming data pipelines, schema management, and operational troubleshooting. - Demonstrated success automating infrastructure and operational processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and cloud-native technologies. - A collaborative and ownership-driven mindset, with the ability to influence technical decisions, solve complex challenges, document solutions clearly, and drive outcomes across teams. It's a bonus if you have - Experience in payments, financial technology (fintech), or other regulated industries where reliability, security, and compliance are critical. - Knowledge of Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Apache Iceberg, or modern lakehouse architectures. - Experience contributing to open-source data infrastructure projects or building managed database and streaming platform solutions. About the team Our inclusive and global teams win together every day. We're proud to have the best minds in the industry, who you can learn from as you grow your career.
