Posting Description

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Center for Sustainability Science & Strategy (CS3) to join an international team of scientists working as part of the global AGAGE network and a large community of atmospheric chemists at MIT. The work will focus on interpretation of AGAGE observations of non-CO2 greenhouse and ozone-depleting gases (e.g., N2O, CFCs, HFCs) using models, measurements and inverse methods. The general goals of AGAGE are to measure the abundances of these gases in the atmosphere and to determine emissions, transport rates and mechanisms, loss rates and mechanisms, and ozone depletion and radiative forcing by these gases.

Additional information about AGAGE and CS3 is available at https://agage.mit.edu (https://www-air.larc.nasa.gov/missions/agage/) and https://cs3.mit.edu.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in a relevant discipline; proficiency in scientific programming; and demonstration of experience in quantitative research. PREFERRED: Experience in inverse modelling; experience of using 3D chemical transport models; experience working with a range of observational data sets of atmospheric composition such as ground based and remote sensing measurements; and an emerging strong track record of scientific output.

For additional information, please contact Dr. Luke Western ([email protected]), CS3, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

This is a one-year initial appointment with the likelihood of extension, depending on performance.9/25/2026
