Job Description:

ALTEN Technology is excited to announce an opening for a Tooling Design Engineer.
-
The role will be responsible for day-to-day tooling design and development support for production tooling aids.
-
The focus is on designing and developing tools, tooling, gauges, and tooling production aids to support new and existing production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Design and develop new tools, tooling, gauging, and other tooling aids to support production operations.
-
Create designs and drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
-
Analize tooling performance and adjust designs accordingly to improve performance.
-
Design tooling for CNC machining, turning, and additive manufacturing methods.
-
Review technical manufacturing specifications to determine tooling requirements.
-
Design for ergonomics when appropriate
-
Collaborate with team members to develop design solutions for production support.
-
Evaluate tooling/gauge/aid performance to determine for-use worthiness.
-
Investigates and troubleshoots process issues.
-
Provides technical support to operations.
-
Consult with outside engineering entities when required to resolve issues.

Coordinates multiple design projects.
-
Provide technical support and guidance to internal and external vendors during tooling fabrication.
-
Analyze process data in support of continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications:
-
A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of tooling design experience
-
10 years of experience using 3D modeling CAD software
-
Siemens NX / Teamcenter Experience
-
Experience working with CAD assemblies.
-
Good understanding of Engineering Drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

Strong analytical skills using appropriate logic and reasoning for design solutions.

Experience conducting design reviews.
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Attention to detail.
-
Strong creativity and innovation skills.
-
Proficiency with Microsoft O365 suite.

US. citizenship is required for this position; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access and handle sensitive data required to support our government and military programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Aerospace Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) experience
-
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaizen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (6s, etc.).

Experience with composite materials
