Full job description

Summary

You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Engineering and Planning Department, Code 200, Test Engineering Division, Code 246 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

  • You will perform and oversee adequate and accurate work authorization and tagout actions for the safe release of work and testing.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring that testing is conducted in a safe manner.
  • You will review test documents for adequacy, clarity, and completeness.
  • You will develop technically engineered detailed test procedures for system and component operational, strength, tightness and cleanliness type testing.
  • You will assist in preparing and delivering lectures on shipboard systems and test program administration.
  • You will audit all completed tests to ensure that all administrative and technical requirements are satisfied.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying technical knowledge of engineering aspects unique to U.S. Navy vessels including a working knowledge of special interface and control requirements associated with accomplishment of total ship/system testing engineering. Experience conducting shipboard tests, knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of related engineering fields (electrical and mechanical) and general knowledge of all submarine/ship systems. Experience performing work authorization and tagout actions for the safe release of work and testing.
