This position provides technical assistance within a mechanical engineering subgroup supporting TVA aeration systems operation, maintenance, and upgrades. The ideal candidate for this position would possess: prior experience with aeration systems, operating within oxygen and cryogenic industrial safety environments, demonstrated procurement and warehousing skills, clear and concise documentation skills, experience scheduling and supporting industrial work processes including mechanical maintenance and rapid prototyping, and experience working in multi-disciplinary technical groups.

Job Summary:

This is a senior-level position in which the incumbent may perform one or more of the following functions as dictated by the work load and experience:

  • Research and provide technical information such as parts, drawings, and material specifications to engineers, foreman, and other plant personnel. Read or interpret diagrams, drawings and blueprints in the investigation of problem areas in equipment and plant components.

  • Perform inspections on failed equipment and plant components such as bearings, shafts, impellers and valves, reporting observations to relevant plant personnel.

  • Assist in the validation of technical information and works to complete the transformation of technical data into the new work management system.

  • Perform statistical tests on plant equipment, as requested, to assist engineers, TSAs or other relevant plan personnel in root cause analysis processes.

  • Assist in gathering, analysis, and reporting of environmental, plant performance, and equipment data.

  • Support the planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance-related work, providing materials, information, etc. for use in the work management system.

This position is not intended to be a core Production Unit position.

Supervision Received:

Supervision and technical guidance are provided by engineers, TSAs, or first-line managers.

Skills and Proficiencies(May be job or organization specific):

  • Solid knowledge of power plant equipment and components

  • Basics of Computer-aided drafting

  • TVA’s Work Management System

  • Ability to interpret drawings and diagrams

  • Basics of engineering technology

  • Basics of procurement

  • Power Plant Auxiliaries

Minimum Qualifications(Consistent with Classification Standard):

Related experience in power plant environment. An Associate of Science degree in a technical field and the ability to perform a wide variety of tasks is desirable., or equivalent experience in a power plant or laboratory environment. Some travel and/or rotating shift work may be required to meet the needs of the power generation system.
